ELCA DECEMBER NEWSLETTER & 2023 RECAP

Paysalia 2023
From December 5th till December 7th, the tradeshow Paysalia 2023 took place in the French city of Lyon. During these three days all kinds of materials and services for the landscape and gardening branch were displayed. Also, ELCA was present at this tradeshow with a stand, next to the stand of our French member UNEP (Union Nationale des Entreprises du Paysage), where visitors were informed about the activities of our association and the possibility to join the ELCA Committee of Firms.
We look back at a successful event with numerous interesting contacts and reinforced relations.

A delegation of our Italian member Asso.impre.di.a visited the ELCA-stand and met members of the ELCA-Board.

Secretary general Egbert Roozen presents the activities of ELCA at Paysalia.

Green Schoolyard TC Medipol Universitesi Kavacik Istanbul winner of the ELCA Green Award
The ELCA Green Award 2023 is won by the Turkish company Isik Landscape Global for their impressive green schoolyard at Medipol Universitesi Kavacik in Instanbul. The award was handed over during a festive ceremony at the tradeshow Paysilia in Lyon. Yasin Otuzoglu, chairman of the ELCA Committee of Firms, congratulated Mr and Mrs Isik with this wonderful project and result. In this competition for the ELCA Green Award there were four nominations: the Gymnasium of Ismaning (Germany), the International European School in Warsaw (Poland), the CPI Terras de Maside School Centre in Maside (Spain) and the T.C. Medipol Universitesi in Kavacik, Istanbul (Turkiye).

Mr and Mrs Isik of Isik Landscape Global (in the middle) are the proud winners of the ELCA Green Award 2023 for green schoolyards.
The Award, which is presented every two years and aims to put the spotlight on outstanding green projects, is an initiative of the European Landscape Contractors Association (ELCA) in cooperation with the French member association UNEP (Union Nationale des Entreprises du Paysage). The ELCA-Board has chosen for Green School Yards as theme for this edition. National members of ELCA had the opportunity to nominate one school yard project of which they are convinced about its prominent and innovative character. Members of the ELCA Committee of Firms, who are all green professionals in the landscape and gardening sector, were invited to vote on their favourite project and by this vote it was determined who the winner of the Green Award would be.
In 2024 there will be the presentation of the ELCA Trend Award at the Galabau tradeshow in Nuremberg. Theme of this award will be Natural Private Gardens and the nominating member country is Austria.

Mrs Baray Isik gave a presentation of the design and creation of the award winning project.

2023 RECAP
With 2023 running to its end looking back, we can say that we are proud of what we have achieved together. We have made a collage of some of the beautiful moments we enjoyed together in 2023. Hopefully it brings a good memory and a smile to your face!

A Year of Remarkable Success
This year, our journey was marked by dedication, innovation, and collaboration, culminating in a series of achievements that underscore our commitment to excellence.
Let’s reflect on some of the events from 2023…
Foremost among our accomplishments was the celebration of ELCA’s 60th anniversary. The milestone seminar, themed ‘Think Green First,’ brought us together to celebrate the incredible achievements in the past, present, and future. Amongst the celebration this year CoF re-elected Yasin Otuzoglu as the Chairman of Committee of Firms and we also welcomed Egbert Roozen as the Secretary-General.
This year ELCA’s Committee of Firms Excursions offered an exceptional opportunity to expand our horizons. From Mannheim, Germany to Vancouver, Canada, the excursions enriched our understanding of global practices, and insights as well as offered an opportunity to network and have fun with our colleagues.
Continuation of the Green Award reaffirmed our dedication to environmental stewardship. We also continued our participation in the ARtemis and the European Platform for Urban Greening projects and actively engaged in the SoGreen alliance collaborating with urban green professionals, this year heavily focusing on the EU Nature Restoration Law. Throughout the year, we actively participated in various events and congresses, facilitating knowledge exchange and networking opportunities that further enriched our industry expertise.
The ELCA Exchange program extended its reach by welcoming new members from diverse regions, signifying our dedication to fostering global learning and collaboration within the industry. Our exchange participants were from various parts of Europe, contributing to the program’s rich diversity and cross-cultural exchange.
As we express our gratitude for the above, we also extend our appreciation to our friends, partners, and colleagues. Your support and collaborative spirit have been instrumental in ELCA’s success this year.
Thank you!
Let’s make it together!
Merry Christmas and up to a green and fruitful 2024!
